2025 BRIEFING SESSION
:Security, Innovation, and Sustainability

KEY (Korea Europe & You) was pleased to co-host a special briefing session in collaboration with the Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence at Korea University, featuring keynote remarks by Dr. Arnaud Leveau (PhD) (Founder, Alta Strategies / President, Asia Centre) visiting from Paris.

Dr. Leveau delivered a thought-provoking presentation on “Security, Innovation, and Sustainability: France–Korea Perspectives on Addressing Global Strategic Challenges,” which addressed:

• The increasing interconnection between security in Europe and Asia, especially considering the unpredictability of U.S. policies

• The strategic importance of innovation and technological cooperation in semiconductors, aerospace, and defense

• The need to view sustainability and societal resilience as integral components of security

• The long-standing France–Korea relationship, reflecting on 140 years of diplomatic ties from history to future opportunities

The presentation was followed by a closed-door discussion with leading academics, policymakers, journalists, and business leaders. Together, we explored how to develop future-oriented narratives rooted in shared values, innovation, and resilience.

With geopolitical uncertainty on the rise - from potential shifts in U.S. trade policy to the ongoing war in Ukraine - strategic dialogues between Korea and Europe are more important than ever. Crafting joint narratives and pursuing collaborative strategies will be critical to navigating these challenging times.

Furthermore, the need to support young talent and next-generation initiatives to sustain this collaboration was also emphasized during the discussion.

KEY was delighted to be part of this dialogue, and we look forward to building on these conversations and continuing to strengthen the partnership between Korea and Europe in the years ahead.

Last but not least, KEY would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Professor Jae-Seung  Lee, Chair of the Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence at Korea University, and Ms. Ji-hye Lee, General Manager of the Centre, for co-hosting this meaningful session with us. We also sincerely thank all participants for their valuable contributions to this timely and insightful conversation.
